The Vampire Disease

Porphyria (Heme Synthesis)

Vampires are not magic; they are victims of a rare genetic blood disorder called Porphyria. It causes severe photosensitivity (sunlight burns the skin), receding gums (making teeth look like fangs), and garlic exacerbates the symptoms. Drinking animal blood was a medieval folk remedy for the severe anemia it caused.

BIOLOGICAL ROOT Genetic Mutation

BEHAVIORAL ALTERATION Nocturnal Lifestyle
"Monsters are born of human ignorance. When science fails to explain biology, the terrified mind invents demons."
